C7 2025 Launches: Driving Global Civil Society Action
As we embark on the 2025 Civil Society 7 (C7) process under Canada's G7 presidency, we are excited to announce the formation of our working groups and outline the key activities planned for the year. The C7 serves as an official engagement group, enabling civil society organizations worldwide to collaborate and present recommendations directly to G7 leaders.
As we embark on the 2025 Civil Society 7 (C7) process under Canada's G7 presidency, we are excited to announce the formation of our working groups and outline the key activities planned for the year. Working Groups and Thematic Priorities
To effectively channel our efforts, we have established dedicated working groups focusing on key thematic areas. These groups are designed to balance the Government of Canada's G7 objectives with global civil society concerns. The working groups will meet in early February to identify key recommendations and dive into the communiqué production. Please visit our thematic priorities page for more information.
Key Activities for 2025
Our journey this year is marked by pivotal events aimed at fostering collaboration and amplifying civil society's impact:
- Global Consultation Kick-Off (March 4, 2025): We invite all interested civil society actors to participate in a comprehensive consultation process to inform our policy recommendations.
- C7 Summit (April 14-15, 2025): This in-person event in Ottawa will convene key contributors to the C7, including the steering committee, coordinators and working group participants to discuss priorities and present the C7 Communiqué to G7 decision-makers.
Throughout the year, our working groups will engage in virtual discussions, share insights, and collaborate to formulate joint statements and rollout advocacy plans. While efforts in Q1 of 2025 will mainly be on the production of the C7 communiqué, April onward will be focused on using this advocacy tool to ensure that our recommendations are elevated during the G7 Leaders’ Summit and ministerial meetings. Regular updates and opportunities for feedback will ensure that our process remains inclusive and responsive to the evolving global context.
Join Us in Shaping Global Justice, Together
